As a former Anthem BC/BS associate, it is disappointing to see the headline, “ANTHEM DATA BREACH LAWSUIT HEADING FOR TRIAL.” It is a reminder to all in the healthcare community that HIPAA compliance is real and is required. There is not one single part of HIPAA that is optional.

We have to remember that HIPAA is not optional. You must have your risk assessment completed yearly. And the same goes for your HIPAA training. You and your staff must be trained every 12 months in order to stay on top of current regulations and industry changes.
